The FinePix HS30EXR is the latest addition to Fujifilm’s HS range of bridge cameras which are ideal for photography enthusiasts who don’t want the lens changing capability of a DSLR, but still desire total control over their images. 

The classically designed FinePix HS30EXR features a new ½” 16-megapixel EXR-CMOSsensor, powerful Fujinon 30x manual optical zoom (24-720mm equivalent) and a tilting 3.0” high contrast 460K resolution LCD with Sunlight Mode and a bright electronic viewfinder for easy outdoor viewing.

NEW EXR CMOS sensor

The unique design of Fujifilm’s EXR CMOS sensor allows it to change its characteristics according to the lighting conditions, to ensure the very best results. The improved EXR CMOS in the FinePix HS30 provides more versatility, particularly in low light conditions. When shooting in EXR Auto Mode, the camera configures each scene and recognises the perfect setting, then automatically captures the best quality image with a single touch of the button.

Three manual options are also available – High Resolution Priority for exceptional image quality, High ISO & Low Noise Priority for use in low light conditions, and Dynamic Range Priority which captures two photos and combines them to provide a wide dynamic range of up to 1600%.

Electronic Viewfinder and 3.0” LCD

Composing images can be done using either the electronic viewfinder (EVF) or 3.0” LCD. The FinePix HS30EXR has a large .26” electronic viewfinder with a 22° viewing angle and stunning 920k resolution that features a “heads up” sensor which automatically changes from LCD to EVF. The LCD displays menus and images with great clarity and also features a Monitor Sunlight mode that ensures it’s easy to view even in direct sunlight.

30x Zoom Lens

With its 30x zoom range covering focal lengths from a super-wide 240-720mm (35mm equivalent), the FinePix HS30EXR accommodates super macro to long telephoto shots, enabling subject matter from sweeping landscapes to fine details on wild animals. Boasting high quality Fujinon optics, the manual zoom lens is now faster and more precise to control.

The Intelligent Digital Zoom function doubles the focal range, delivering a 60x zoom with a maximum telephoto setting of 1440mm.

Dual Image Stabilisation

Dual image Stabilisation combines a mechanically stabilised CMOS sensor with high ISO sensitivities for total anti-blur protection. Together these technologies reduce the blurring effect of both handshake and subject movement to provide sharp, clean and clear results even at the longest zoom settings or in challenging lighting conditions.

Full HD Movie Capture

The FinePix HS30EXR captures 1080p Full HD movies at 30 frames per second (fps) and delivers high sensitivity with low noise for movies captured in low lighting. Movie files (.MOV) are captured with H.264 high profile compression for smaller file sizes without sacrificing quality. Using a mini-HDMI output connector, it is easy to connect and view images on your HDTV (HDMI cable not included). 

A High Speed Movie option enables capture at an incredible 320fps, which allows even the fastest moving objects to be captured and played back in slow motion.

Intelligent Processor

The FinePix HS30EXR can recognise an impressive 27 scenes, set the perfect setting (AF, exposure, white balance and flash) and capture the best photo automatically, all at the touch of a button. The GUI has a new rich user interface that dramatically improves the appearance and menu search functions, as well as speed and image quality.

With a strong mix of sensor and processing technologies, the FinePix HS30EXR can capture breathless action shots. The high speed continuous shooting offers full resolution up to 8ffps or up to 11fps (M setting) at a reduced resolution. The FinePix HS30EXR eliminates the need to worry about slow auto focusing or shutter lag. The new solution’s contrast Auto Focus system takes approximately 0.16 seconds to focus.

Advanced Photographic Features

The FinePix HS30EXR boasts a range of additional features:

RAW/RAW+JPEG Shooting – the FinePix HS30EXR can shoot both a RAW and JPEG shot simultaneously. RAW is for ultimate quality shots via post processing. JPEG is for great quality with no need for further post-production work. 

• Motion Picture 360° Panorama – combined with high quality FUJIFILM printing, sweeping and impressive scenes can be captured showing fine detail, low noise and high resolution at 180°, 240° or full 360° panoramic ranges.

• One Touch Controls – the FinePix HS30EXR also sports a full complement of sophisticated manual and semi-automatic shooting modes and photographic controls. The extensive external controls gives the more advanced photographer direct access to virtually every control needed for uninterrupted shooting. The specially designed chassis includes dedicated command buttons for quick and easy key functions such as ISO, white balance, focus and metering. The large command dial, manual focus ring, twist and zoom lens barrel, bright, clear electronic viewfinder, high quality tilting LCD screen and deep hand grip ensures the camera handles well. The FinePix HS30EXR uses a high performance, rechargeable Li-ion battery for up to 600 shots per charge.

FUJIFILM Senior Category Manager – Imaging, Daniel Paul, said the FinePix HS30EXR offers an advanced DSLR-style camera with a single optimised lens that ensures outstanding images and tremendous versatility.

Other features include Super Intelligent Flash, Multi-Bracketing, Face Recognition, Face Detection, Automatic Red-Eye Removal and Purple Fringing Reducer / Corner Resolution Enhancer.

 The Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR has a recommended retail price of $599, including GST.
