The FinePix F70EXR is FUJIFILM’s first long-zoom digital compact camera that comes complete with an impressive 10x wide angle optical zoom lens (27mm wide angle – 270mm telephoto), which has been developed in conjunction with FUJIFILM’s award-winning EXR technology to produce crisp, high resolution photographs.

Encased in a beautifully crafted metal shell with a double coated lacquer finish, the FinePix F70EXR is just 22.7mm thick and has been designed specifically for capturing demanding shots in challenging conditions. The lens of the FinePix F70EXR features Super EBC Coating which keeps ghosting and flare to a minimum to allow for optimal photo quality.

Super CCD EXR

FUJIFILM’s renowned EXR sensor is modelled on the human eye and for the first time the behaviour of the sensor can be flexed according to the scene being photographed.

When the light is strong and even, the FinePix F70EXR can be switched to High Resolution (HR) mode to ensure every small detail is recorded. When the light is strong but contrasting, the sensor can switch to WideDynamic Range(DR) modeto achieve the optimal balance between highlights and shadows, while in low light conditions the sensor can switch to High Sensitivity and Low Noise (SN) modeto ensure clean noise-free photographs even in the darkest conditions.

EXR Modes

A fantastic addition to the FinePix F70EXR is EXR Autowhich takes the guesswork out of setting the camera by doing everything for you. Essentially a very sophisticated set of program modes, EXR Auto automatically detects six different types of scenes – Portrait, Landscape, Macro, Backlit Portrait, Night and Night Portrait. The camera will recognise the scene, optimise focus, colour balance, exposure, flash and sensitivity and will also automatically switch the sensor to HR, SN or DR mode depending on lighting conditions.

The FinePix F70EXR is also equipped with EXR Prioritymodes which enables default to HR ‘Resolution Priority’, SN ‘High ISO & Low Noise Priority’or DR ‘D-Range Priority’ for consistent shooting using one sensor setting.

Multi-Frame Technology

Professional style shots are now possible on the FinePix F70EXR, thanks to FUJIFILM’s Multi-Frame Technology incorporating Pro Focus modeand Pro Light mode.

Pro Focus mode combines two or three burst shots together. Through complex digital imaging technology, a crisp shot of the subject is created against a defocused background and foreground. Ideal for portraiture, nature photography or any subject that needs ‘lifting’ from its background, the FinePix F70EXR Pro Focus mode provides satisfying professional style results at the touch of a button.

Meanwhile, Pro Low Light mode is applied to solving the problems of noisy low light shots. The camera will capture bursts of four high sensitivity images using Pixel Fusion Technology¹ in quick succession. With Multi Frame Technology, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th images are overlapped to create one image with extremely low noise.

Film Simulation Modes

The FinePix F70EXR offers five different film modes enabling full creative expression by the photographer to explore a variety of pre-set colour and contrast modes designed around FUJIFILM’s renowned film emulsions. The modes are Velvia / Vividfor rich and luscious landscapes; Provia / Standardfor excellent, sharp, standard photography; Astia / Softfor soft, fine, smooth tonality;

Black & Whitefor dramatic monotones; Sepiafor antique, warm tones. In the Provia, Velvia and Astia modes, the dynamic range can be set to 800% to improve highlight details further.

New ‘Super Intelligent Flash’

The FinePix F70EXR offers a radically improved flash control system which efficiently controls the level of flash for a given exposure to produce beautifully balanced flash illumination across the foreground and background. Super Intelligent Flashis most useful in macro photography where the contrast between subject and background can be especially challenging, but is also effective for night and backlit photography.

High Contrast LCD

The FinePix F70EXR comes complete with a high contrast 230k-pixel 2.7-inch LCDenabling the camera to be pitched at various shooting angles for framing of awkward shots. Viewable at

160 degrees both vertically and horizontally, the LCD is bright and clear for beautiful renditions of shots in playback.

Dual Stabilisation

Picture Stabilisationreduces blur to a minimum on the FinePix F70EXR by automatically increasing shutter speeds to freeze action, while CCD Image Stabilisationcounteracts handshake. By cleverly combining the two, this Dual Stabilisation feature reduces blur to an absolute minimum.

Face Detection 3.0 and Automatic Red-eye Removal

To provide perfectly exposed and focused portrait shots, the FinePix F70EXR is equipped with FUJIFILM’s latest Face Detection technology which can track up to 10 faces simultaneously at almost any angle to the camera. Red-eye is instantly corrected and the camera saves both the original and corrected image file automatically.

FUJIFILM Senior Category Manager – Consumer & Professional Products, Matt Dole, said the FUJIFILM FinePix F70EXR combines intuitive use with the most advanced features and technology available in a point-and-shoot digital camera.

“By adding FUJIFILM’s sophisticated EXR technology to the FinePix F70 EXR, outstanding images can be achieved in virtually any lighting condition,” Mr Dole said.

Accessories for the FUJIFILM FinePix F70 EXR include a Lithium-ion battery (with up to 230 shot battery life) and charger; Hand strap; USB cable; AV cable; CD Rom and Owner’s manual.

¹Pixel Fusion Technology: Technology of FUJIFILM changing the colour filter arrangement. Two side-by-side same coloured pixels are taken together as a single pixel. The area of imaging elements is doubled, the sensitivity is twice the normal level and “dark noise” is extremely small. Therefore, it is possible to create a high sensitivity image with little noise, instead of increasing the gain from a single pixel and increasing the noise.

The FUJIFILM FinePix F70EXR has a recommended retail price of $499 including GST.
