Fujifilm’s new FinePix S1000fd is one of the world’s smallest 10-megapixel long zoom digital cameras that comes complete with a Fujinon 12x optical zoom lens and a swag of other high performance features – yet is suitably compact and ergonomic to fit in the palm of your hand.
Fujifilm Senior Category Manager – Consumer & Professional Products, Matt Dole, said the 10-megapixel sensor on the FinePix S1000fd delivers sharp, high resolution image quality and brilliant, detailed prints.
“This DSLR-style compact and lightweight camera also incorporates Face Detection Technology with automatic red-eye removal, settings up to ISO1600 at full resolution (or ISO3200 at 3-megapixel resolution) and a new Panorama Shooting Mode,” Mr Dole said.
“Ideal for outdoor or nature photography, the Panorama Mode captures and combines up to three consecutive shots that are saved as one panoramic photo.
“The versatile 12x optical zoom on the FinePix S1000fd offers an expansive shooting capability of 33m-396mm (35mm equivalent) for greater range and flexibility.
“When Picture Stabilisation Mode is selected, the optimum shutter speed and sensitivity is automatically set for each scene to reduce camera blur caused by handshake or fast-moving subjects, even in low light situations.”
Mr Dole said that with the option of manual photographic control, photography enthusiasts can have control of various camera settings such as resolution, ISO, aperture, shutter speed and more.
“The High Speed Shooting mode allows you to capture the following action: 7fps @ 2MP for 15 shots; 3.3 fps @ 5MP for 6 shots and 1.4 fps @10MP for 3 shots.”
“VGA quality movie recording is also available at 30 frames per second with sound and electronic image stabilisation.”
“The FinePix S1000fd features 13 pre-programmed scene modes with a one-touch setting for almost any situation including Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Museum, Party, Flower and Text.
“Another key feature of the FinePix S1000fd that is particularly useful for holiday or outdoor photography is the long-lasting battery power delivering up to 300 shots.”
Mr Dole said other features include a 2.7-inch high resolution LCD which makes it easy to compose great shots and then view your photos on playback.
“Using the Micro Thumbnail View, the LCD can also display up to 100 picture images simultaneously in a 10x10 array, enabling you to instantly select specific photos to view or print.
“The FinePix S1000fd also features an xD/SD/SDHC compatible media slot that accepts Fujifilm’s traditional xD-Picture Cards as well as Secure Digital (SD) and SD High Capacity (SDHC) cards as well,” he said.
Accessories include 4xAA Alkaline Batteries; Shoulder Strap; Lens Cap; Lens Cap Cord; USB and A/V cables; FinePix Viewer CD-Rom and Owner’s manual.
The Fujifilm FinePix S1000fd has a recommended retail price of $399, including GST.
