Fujifilm re-introduces Fujichrome Velvia 50 due to overwhelmingly popularity with professional photographers
Fujifilm has announced that it is re-introducing its Fujichrome Velvia 50 film due to its overwhelming popularity with professional photographers.
Fujifilm Product Manager – Professional film, Jennifer Chan, said production of Fujichrome Velvia 50 was discontinued in 2005 when key raw materials used in the production of the emulsion became unavailable.
“Following repeated requests from professional photographers who had used
Velvia 50 for many years, Fujifilm’s research team developed a substitute raw material with new manufacturing technologies that has enabled production to
re-commence,” Ms Chan said.
“The characteristics of this new emulsion will mirror the original Fujichrome
Velvia 50 with its vivid colour reproduction and ultra high colour saturation.
“Other features include its fine RMS granularity of 9 and unsurpassed shadow depth which enables uniform neutral grey to be produced from the highest highlights to the deepest shadows.
“Regardless of whether a professional photographer is shooting still life photography, fashion or commercial products such as jewellery, Fujichrome Velvia 50 delivers an unmatched sharpness.
“Similarly, with landscape and nightscape photography, Velvia 50 brings out the vividness and richness of the colour spectrum from azure seas and skies, magnificent sunsets to floral colour.”
Ms Chan said Fujichrome Velvia 50 is expected to be available in Australia from
June 2007.
