New Fujifilm FinePix S9600 is a powerful ‘prosumer’ digital SLR-style camera with exceptional handling

Fujifilm’s new FinePix S9600 is a powerful digital SLR-style camera with exceptional handling that has been designed to accommodate the serious hobbyist and enthusiast photographer.

Matt Dole, said the user-friendly FinePix S9600 features a 10.7x Fujinon optical zoom lens (28-300mm equiv), superb functionality, impressive image quality and exceptional responsiveness.

 

“The nine megapixel FinePix S9600 incorporates Fujifilm’s proprietary
6^th generation Super CCD HR sensor along with an ISO 80-1600 capability,” Mr Dole said.

 

"This high sensitivity range is made possible by Fujifilm’s Real Photo Technology enabling the capture of crisp, clear images - even in low light conditions.

 

“Image quality is further enhanced by new processing algorithms that result in increased image sharpness and greater resolution.

 

“The autofocus speed of the camera enables the user to compose, frame and capture action photographs without delay, regardless of whether it is night or in low light.

 

“Combined with the camera’s 0.01 second shutter-lag and 0.8 second start-up time, images are able to be orchestrated and captured almost instantaneously.

 

“Fujifilm’s Intelligent Flash System - known as i-Flash – finetunes the flash power output for shooting with high sensitivity settings. It recognises scene conditions and adjusts the flash intensity and sensitivity accordingly.

 

“This allows subjects in the foreground to appear natural, while the background detail remains bright and clear. I-Flash is also useful for capturing true-to-life skin tones, which is desirable in portrait photos.

 

“The inclusion of Fujifilm’s Hyper Utility Software HS-V2 version 3 enables photographers to explore the full potential of the camera’s RAW file format. The software provides full functionality in RAW file conversion allowing the photographer to enjoy the control and flexibility of working with a “lossless” file format.

 

“The 2-inch tilting LCD enables high and low angle shooting, making it easy to frame photos from a variety of shooting positions.

 

“Other FinePix S9600 features include TV-quality VGA movie capture of 30 frames per second with sound; closed unit design to eliminate dust accumulation on the CCD; PictBridge™ compatibility for direct printing without a PC; Hotshoe and PC sync terminal; and both xD Picture Card™ and Compact Flash™/Microdrive compatability,” Mr Dole said.

 

Accessories include a shoulder strap; USB cable; A/V cable; lens cap and hood; USB driver software (along with Hyper Utility Software); CD-Rom with FinePix Viewer ImageMixer VCD2 LE for FinePix and RAW File Converter LE.

 

Optional accessories for the FinePix S9600 include a Wide Conversion Lens which expands the camera’s wide angle capability without compromising image quality.

 

The Fujifilm FinePix S9600 is expected to have a recommended retail price of $749.00, including GST.
