Fujifilm demonstrates its new range of processless plates at PrintEx 07
Stand 1608, PrintEx 07, Sydney, Australia. (24th May, 2007) – Fujifilm Australia today announces that it will use PrintEx 07 as the platform to demonstrate its new range of processless CTP plates - the Brillia HD (High Definition) PRO Range. Comprising a true processless thermal plate and a violet photopolymer chemistry-free plate, Brillia HD PRO-T and PRO-V are Fuji's plate solution for both the main CTP imaging technologies and continues the company's strategy of giving users a choice according to their specific requirements. This has been achieved through the development of new plate technologies that allow performance on press remarkably close to Fuji's existing CTP plates, uniquely positioning the processless plates in the market. For example, both the thermal plate, Brillia HD PRO-T, and the violet plate, Brillia HD PRO-V, will allow high quality printing using FM and hybrid screening algorithms.
The new technologies common to both plates are:
Compatible with most thermal (830nm) platesetters and approved for 1% - 99% at 200lpi conventional, 300lpi hybrid and FM screening, Brillia HD PRO-T is a nonablative plate that carries a latent image with distinct contrast allowing visual inspection after imaging. When used on press, the unique new MultiGrain technology quickly carries ink and fount enabling the plate to be in full print production within a similar number of waste sheets compared with conventional PS or CTP plates. The new MultiGrain technology also contributes to the same ink/water balance as Fuji's existing CTP plates.
Brillia HD PRO-T only needs an imaging power very close to Fuji's existing, market leading, thermal processed plate at 120mJ/cm2, resulting in the same production speeds. Supporting run lengths up to 100,000* impressions, it will comfortably meet the demands of most commercial printers, and can be handled under daylight conditions. Due to the new functional undercoating technology, it also requires no additional equipment for true processless capability.

- Technical announcement -
Fujifilm is currently developing Brillia HD PRO-V, a violet photopolymer, non-ablative, chemistry-free CTP plate designed to achieve 1% - 99% at 200lpi conventional, 300lpi hybrid and FM screening. Brillia HD PRO-V exhibits many of the qualities found in Fujifilm's existing Brillia LP-NV violet plate, including the ability to print with aggressive UV inks and solvents without baking, long run lengths, and yellow safe light handling. Fujifilm's Brillia HD PRO-T thermal plate will be available from May 2007, followed by Brillia HD PRO-V later in 2007.
