Fujifilm launches flagship Luxel V-8 B1 High Definition and High Speed violet platesetters at PrintEx 07

Luxel V-8 engines set new standards of image quality and output productivity Stand 1608, PrintEx 07, Sydney, Australia. (24th May, 2007) – Building on Fujifilm's recent launch of a new range of High Definition CTP plates, Fujifilm Australia today announces it is launching its two new B1 fully automatic Luxel V-8 violet platesetters at PrintEx 07. These new flagship platesetters have been designed in response to the ever-increasing demand for higher quality and productivity and, in combination with the traditional low cost of ownership of violet systems, enable B1 printers to further improve their production capabilities in what is a highly competitive market. The Luxel V-8 platesetters set new standards in pre-press imaging quality and productivity and are the direct result of advancements in the optical imaging and media handling systems. The engines are available in two versions.

Luxel V-8 HD (High definition)

The Luxel V-8 HD features a new High Definition imaging head which combines ongoing improvements in violet laser technology with a refined optical system. The result is a better laser profile and sharper dot, which equates to better image reproduction and improved processing stability and consistency. When used in conjunction with the Brillia HD LP-NV2 plate, the system is unparalleled in dot reproduction and linearity, while retaining high productivity levels. The Luxel V-8 HD is a fully automatic unit capable of outputting 32 plates per hour at 2,400 dpi.

Luxel V-8 HS (High speed)

In response to the increasing demand for higher productivities and the desire to handle higher peak production levels, Fujifilm has developed a High Speed optics system capable of market-leading productivity levels. Combining a newly designed mirror spinning at 60,000 rpm and twin laser optics, the new Luxel V-8 HS can output 50 B1 plates per hour at 2,400 dpi and 70 plates per hour at 1,200 dpi, making it the fastest commercial engine on the market today. Taking productivity to new levels, the Luxel V-8 HS can produce a four-colour B1 set in just 4 minutes. Combining a unique rapid restart feature, twin laser redundancy and improved plate handling, the system ensures nonstop productivity for the high demand customer.

Moving to processless

As violet lasers and plates continue to develop, Fujifilm is committed to moving forward with processless technology. The Luxel V-8 HD and HS models will be upgradeable to image the forthcoming Brillia HD PRO-V chemistry free plate.
